Taverns

The men that worked the Thornton Quarry needed places where they could relax and spend their paychecks.  One by one, a series of taverns popped up in downtown Thornton.  By the 1960's, the area was one of the most popular entertainment strips in the south suburbs.  Today, the taverns are gone but the Thornton Historical Society has made an effort to preserve the memory of these once-beloved establishments.
