Join us for a special event: Historian and Actor Terry Lynch Brings to Life John Adams: A Lawyer in Adversity

The Village of Thornton Historical Society presents historian and actor Terry Lynch, Monday, August 27 at 7:00 PM at the Historical Society Museum, 114 N. Hunter Street, as he portrays the 2nd President of the United States, John Adams. Adams was a Founding Father and a lawyer who could handle adversity and be part of living history. The program highlights include his challenging decision to defend the British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre which is often framed as a movement of “adversity” and principle. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.























Quarry Tours

Tours of the Thornton Quarry take place on the first Saturday of June and October. All guests must be 18 years old. Proceeds benefit the Thornton Historical Society.
You may request reservations for the tour at any time by contacting quarrytourthorntonhs@gmail.com. Please send your name, home address, phone number and e-mail address, as well as the number of tickets you would like. Reservations are kept on file by date received. First in, first out. Tickets are not refundable. Tours are booked through 2029, but you are still welcome to add your name to the reservation list.
We will have Quarry history booklets for sale the day of the tour, as well as T-shirts and other merchandise.
