Membership renewal is from January to March 1st. You need not live in Thornton to become a member so please encourage your friends to join. Choose a one-time life membership to avoid yearly renewal, or an individual membership. Please visit the How to become a Member page to fill out a membership form. Or you can visit the museum on the first or third Saturdays from now until May. Individual Membership: $15. Lifetime Membership: $150.
Thornton Township Cemetery
The old Thornton Township Cemetery is located South-West of the Village of Thornton, on the North side of Ridge Road, at the far East end of the large Cemetery complex. The site dates back to 1883 and was originally known as the Thornton Burial Ground.
The Cemetery is open to the public every Monday - Friday from 9AM to 1PM, April 1st through September 30th. The rest of the year it is open by appointment only. Please call (708)596-6040 to arrange a visit.
The original plot map of the cemetery was lost for more than 60 years. But a copy was discovered in Michigan in 2000. This pamphlet has all known plot names and numbers:
